Just a Bit O’ Random

  • I’m working through 31DBBB (31 Days to Build a Better Blog). At the rate I’m going, it will end up being 150 DBBB. Good stuff though.
  • If I would have videotaped our cat yesterday, playing with a crumpled ball of paper, and put it on YouTube, it would have gone viral. It was that funny.
  • We have a little plot of ground (at a friend’s house) where we will be planting our own garden. First time for everything.
  • I was planning on driving to the 2to1 Conference in April. But, thanks to Ashley Pichea, I was able to procure an airline ticket for LESS than it would have cost to drive! Ah-Maz-Ing.
  • I shared a box of Nerds with my daughter last night. I can’t even remember the last time I ate Nerds. Am I getting old?
  • We’re running the air conditioner. In March.
  • I am 50 days into B90Days (reading through the Bible in 90 days) and I am officially 4 days behind, and that’s a lot of reading. But I will persevere.
  • My new favorite salty snack is Aldi’s brand (Clancy’s) Baked Pita Chips. Perfect with string cheese.
  • I have given up chocolate for Lent. Of the 28 days that have passed, I have craved it approximately 28 days. Craved.
  • We will not be taking a Spring Break. Yep, I’m the mean one.
  • Just heard a news teaser about a woman who had to be rescued out of Lake Michigan. She was texting while walking on the pier. Really?
  • I’m really sorry I don’t have any pictures to go with this post!

Happy Wednesday!

Sunday Silly

My camera has been hijacked.

So has my heart.

I had sworn off pets. Seriously. I’m not sure why I changed my mind, but this little sweetheart has us all wrapped around her baby finger, er…paw. (Actually, I blame thank HMama for helping me turn the corner in my thinking.) She knows I love her for it.

In other news…

Yesterday, as a family we sat around, did pretty much nothing, ate popcorn and baked mozzarella sticks for dinner and candy for dessert, and engaged in some general silliness.

I’m sad that it’s more than halfway through February. That means spring is soon to follow, and I don’t like spring.

It’s very strange not to have a football game to watch on Sunday afternoons. We have about 7 months before the next season. That seems like forever.

My husband has taken to making fun of every possible sign he can while he’s driving. There really are some goofy advertising signs out there! Great fodder for his off-the-wall sense of humor. Oh, you should hear the groans of “Dad…puhleeze!” emanating from the backseat.

And that’s all my silly news for today. I hope you had a great weekend!

Just for Fun

While sitting at my desk earlier this week, my youngest came and told me my presence was required “in court,” because I was being sued.

Really?!

I walked upstairs and there they were, oldest in the big chair acting as judge. Youngest readying her speech as prosecuting attorney. I was not afforded an attorney to represent me.

My crime? Being against pets.

Really?!

I was tried and convicted and given my sentence.

The punishment? Being subjected to a litany of reasons why we should have pets, and a blatant attempt at sending me on a massive guilt trip for depriving my family of such an incredible blessing.

Am I now a reformed criminal? Well, not exactly. But I did say I would at least consider the possibility of an indoor cat, which lessens the chance for fleas brought in from the outside. Which is probably the biggest reason I am against pets in the first place. That, and the mess in general. Among other reasons, which I won’t bore you with right now.

It was hilariously funny, except for the fact that they were dead serious.
