Monday Meditation

June 20, 2011

Do you recall the story of Jesus bringing back to life the widow’s son in the village of Nain? You can find it in Luke 7. What I want to point out are verses 16-17. It says this in The Message:

“They all realized they were in a place of holy mystery, that God was at work among them. They were quietly worshipful–and then noisily grateful, calling out among themselves, ‘God is back, looking to the needs of his people!’ The news of Jesus spread all through the country.”

Have you ever had those times when you recognized the holy mystery? That God was doing something ONLY He could do?

You probably haven’t witnessed a child raised from the dead, but I’m guessing that there have been a few occasions, at least, where God has done something that leaves you in awe. What was your response?

I like the 2 part response on the part of the people who saw this young man come to life before them. FIRST, they worshipped quietly and reverently and SECOND, they let loose telling everyone around them what God was doing! And the next phrase shows what happened next: “The news of Jesus spread…”

Is there something that God has done in you or for you that could be shared so that the news of Jesus can spread?

Have a great week everyone!
