Since I am doing this 31 Days series, my Thankful Thursday posts this month will be focused on what I have come to enjoy about the military life as an Army spouse.
I understand that I’m probably in a “honeymoon” phase of active duty military life, and I’m guessing I could get an earful from those who have been in for many years. There’s even issues we’ve run into since our recent move which are a mite frustrating, but…
In the short time I’ve been immersed in active duty life, I have come to appreciate the sense of community I’ve experienced. There’s something comforting about being around a group of people who are all “in the same boat…or tank…or plane.” 🙂
There is a sense of instant camaraderie when you have common things to talk about upon meeting other military wives–places you’ve lived, Army moves (and movers!), housing, settling in, adjustment issues, etc.

I’ve also met several other homeschoolers here, which has been fun. Add in those women who are Chaplain’s wives AND homeschool, and you’ve got instant connections!
My girls have made good friends in the short time we’ve been here. Military kids know they need to make friends quickly, or they may lose their chance. That’s been a huge benefit for us!
All in all, these connections, and that sense of community, have made this huge change for our family bearable–and even enjoyable.
